Australian Robo Baller 26.02.2010
A group of roughly 20 Sydney highschool students are taking their team "The Thunder Down Under" to the
FIRST Robotics Competition...for a game of soccer.
These innovative highschool students have built their very own soccerplaying robot, weighing in at 55kg
and named Wombot.

The tournament, taking place in New Hampshire, is starting the 4th of March.
The students and their project harvest great support from both university students and sponsoring
companies like National Instruments, Altium, De Rossi Industrial and BAE Systems, providing them with
both skilled engineers and the cash to get the project rolling.

Even though the tournament seems small and unknown, an amazing 1800 teams from 12 different countries
are going to participate, and thousands of fans will be there to cheer them on.

However, being the newcomer in this years tournament, the Australian team isn't set on winning the
major competition. At least not this year.
